The club has over 1000 members. It offers a full sailing programme for dinghies, cadets, dayboats and yachts and a lively social calendar.

The club welcomes visiting yachtsmen all year round. Facilities include a landing slip, dinghy parking, showers, a first class bistro, bar snacks and a licensed bar.

The River Yealm, lying about 5 miles South East of Plymouth, offers a safe and sheltered harbour for yachts. The two villages of Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers are at the heart of the area. They offer three pubs and there are shops, a chemist and a post office in Newton. There are extensive local coastal and woodland walks for the weather bound or those visiting for a few days.
